Mexico City’s Gay Bars
Mexico City probably has the only gay neighborhood in all of Mexico. Zona Rosa aka the Pink Zone has the largest concentration of gay bars in all of Mexico City.
I usually prefer to stay in Roma Norte, or Polanco when I go out for nightlife outings or grab a local Mexican drink. But every once in a while I’ll switch up my regular nightlife outings to go to this area.
Plus it’s a great place for an after party. If you need something to do at 3AM, then you’re sure to find a gay bar that is still in rumba mode at Zona Rosa.
The Gay Bars of Zona Rosa
(A photo I took inside of Blow Bar. As you can see it’s very packed.)
Blow Bar is a very high energy place. Each floor is packed. To move from one area to the club to another, you will always find yourself squeezing between people. It’s a good fun vibe, everyone is very friendly in this area. You’ll mostly find large groups of friends here. I did meet people who came with only one other friend.

- Some expats are here. I could hear them speak English

- Safety: You may get approached on the streets by drunk people asking for money. But this is common in most of Zona Rosa. Inside the club felt safe.
Kinky Bar is crowded and dim. The lights that come through are usually from strobe lights moving around in the area. It’s very high energy here.

The Gay Bar I’ve Been to not in Zona Rosa
Pecado is the only gay bar I’ve been to that was not in Zona Rosa. It’s something I wanted to mention. It is called Pecado which translates directly to sin in English. I arrived late, after 2AM, and it was still busy with people dancing.
Here are the highlights of this place
- Cover: None
- Party mode even at 4AM
- Dancers on tables
- Located downtown aka centro
- I didn’t meet or see people who could be expats

- Safety: I felt safe inside and outside the club. But it’s not the fanciest area. It’s harder to get an Uber here.
Guilt Bar is not so far from Zona Rosa. But it’s still in another neighborhood called Roma. Inside the club are the signature disco balls that hover in the center. Great place to see a live performance.
- Cover: 300 mxn pesos or ~$15 USD
- 2 stories with narrow dance floors
- Safety: This club is located in an area of Mexico City that is known for higher safety.

Discoteca Mexico is crowded if you go on a Friday. Like some of the clubs listed above, it is a dimly lit area. You’ll be at the mercy of strobe lights and neon signs to guide your way to the bar. This place has an interesting description as it’s a club inside of the mall and the attendees are known to be hipsters.
