Top 3 AirBnBs in Mexico City

I have been to at least 16 AirBnBs in 2022 so far. The majority of which have been in Latin America. I’m an avid traveler and will mostly stay in AirBnBs that have great reviews or others have recommended. I hope that my recommendations will hold some weight as I’ve lived in so many parts of Mexico City at this point.

The best AirBnBs in Mexico City are going to be found in the most developed neighborhoods. This will mean the cost is going to be higher, but you would also be living well near everything you want. These neighborhoods will be Santa Fe, Condesa and Roma.

There are other nice neighborhoods in Mexico City, but I chose the above neighborhoods for the following:

  • Santa Fe – The most modern and newest neighborhood in CDMX has the right ingredients for staying long term. Especially on Avenida Santa Fe. It is modern, has plenty of restaurants and one of the most well-kept parks in Mexico City called Parque Mexicana.
  • Condesa – I’ve talked to many locals and have asked if they could live anywhere in Mexico City, where would it be. The most overwhelming majority would either choose Condesa or Roma. There is a good reason for it as Parque España is the main attraction. It is vibrant and filled with good live music and many restaurants and cafes to choose from.
  • Roma – Roma is another neighborhood that is coveted for incredible restaurants and high safety. Here you can also find a variety of nightlife.

Alternatively, there are also plenty of hotels you can choose here. If you’re around for a short time, I’d advise checking out some of the best boutique hotels in Mexico City. Otherwise, AirBnB is a great option. Best AirBnB in Santa Fe, Mexico City ($$$)

Entrance of Santa Fe, Mexico City AirBnB. It is called Las Manos.

(This is the entrance of the building. You can find this place if you type Las Manos on Google Maps. It translates to the hands. Which is appropriate as you can see.)

If you’re looking for the best-in-class AirBnBs, my stay in Santa Fe was the one.

Labeled as the Ultra Modern Apartment at Santa Fe Mexico City, this apartment had everything one could ask for when living in an apartment.

Here are the amenities it had:

  • Gym – The gym was fully stocked and was on the second floor aka M for mezzanine. It had everything from treadmills, stationary bikes, bench, leg machines, dumbbells, barbells, and more.
  • Desk Staff – The staff at the front were really responsive to any request. For instance, I had once forgotten my keys in my room while I was still in my pajamas. Luckily they recognized that I just left and came back.
  • Pool, Jacuzzi, and Hot Tub – Like I said. This apartment was the ultimate Mexican luxury apartment stay experience I’ve had. The pool was heated as well. As I write this, it makes me want to book another trip there.
  • Comfortable Furniture – The bed was king sized. The couch was super comfortable. The TVs were bright, large and high definition. Everything about the room itself was great.
  • Weekly Cleaning – There was also a weekly cleaning lady who would come into the apartment. She did a great job cleaning and I would provide a cash tip after. This was also included in the cost of the apartment.

I stayed at this place for about two months. I loved every moment of it.

The reason I chose this apartment was to just get away from the city life and focus for a season. I thought with everything close to hand, I could do just that. Which I did.

Having all these amenities in the same building really afforded me time to build a routine. Gym in the mornings, and work in the afternoon. Occasionally I would go socialize with people during the evening and weekends. It was a great season of respite and focus for me.

Best AirBnB in Condesa, Mexico City ($$)

Sandwich I made when staying in an AirBnB in La Condesa, CDMX.

(A sandwich I made while I was in the AirBnB. It was the only photo I had of this place…)

Condesa by Roof Garden in front of Parque España is the next AirBnB on this list.

It is a 3 story apartment building owned and rebuilt by a passionate designer. You can tell the handicraft as soon as you are dropped off in front of the building – from the wooden panels that line the garage to the greenery that lines the porches at each level of the building. There is true craftsmanship there.

The room itself is a studio complete with a bathroom, kitchen, large TV, couch, and workspace. You also have a large terrace outside of the apartment where you might meet other people who are renting a space in the building.

I actually was fortunate enough to meet the owner. He was very passionate about the craftsmanship and the rebuilding of this building. I remember him saying the house mostly runs on a solar panel above the building and that the water in the toilet systems used rainwater to flush.

I thought these small things were interesting to know about how the building operated.

My stay was amazing there. I loved how close it was to bars and restaurants: literally like one block away. There was also a park right in front of the building called Parque Espana. There many dog lovers seem to hang out. But it’s also a lively place where you will frequently see children playing, couples holding hands and the occasional tai chi session.

Also note this place is rated 5 stars. And I concur.

Best AirBnB in La Roma, Mexico City ($$)

Living room when I was staying in an AirBnB in Roma Sur, Mexico city.

(I really need to start taking better pictures of my travel destinations or AirBnBs in this case. This is a view from the couch.)

This neighborhood is very similar to the Condesa neighborhood. If you’re looking to enjoy the nightlife or be in a more chic area, this would be the place to go to. I personally like it because of the nightlife and abundance of food places.

This apartment, Awesome luxury Apt in the heart of Roma sur, was an example of being in the center of everything. It’s a five minute walk to the hip Parque Mexico where you can spend a month and not have tried all the restaurants around the park. There are also places to get groceries, shop at markets, and eat at restaurants as soon as you walk out of the apartment.

There is truly no real need to get an Uber if you live here. Speaking of transportation. The bus station is a 5 minute walk if you want to take that as well.

As far as the apartment goes. Here are a list of amenities:

  • HDTV with HBO Go, Netflix, and Amazon.
  • Full kitchen
  • Two bedrooms (Comfortable)
  • Two bathrooms (Hot water)
  • Couch
  • Rooftop

I was told by a local that this would also be considered a fancy apartment for the area. That’s probably why the demand for this place is high. I wanted to book for 3 months at this place, but could only get it for about two months.

It has a 5 star out of 8 reviews.

Why are AirBnBs in Mexico City cheap?

If you compare the AirBnBs to a metropolitan city in the USA, it would be considered cheap. However it is not cheap in terms of it being an inefficient market price. For local supply-demand, AirBnBs are generally priced correctly. Some places with full service amenities can cost as much as $3000+ USD.

Where to stay in Mexico City in an AirBnB?

Unless you’re planning to move to Mexico, I would recommend staying in Condesa or Centro Historico. Condesa has a chic vibe. Centro Historico has a more cultural vibe.
